Who is Montez?
Montez Aiken is a native resident of Dorchester County with strong ties to Berkeley County who has dedicated his life to public service and education. After graduating from Summerville High School, he earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of South Carolina. His early career as a public school teacher in both rural and urban areas gave him a clear understanding of the daily challenges faced by students and educators. This experience fueled a desire to serve his community at an even higher level, leading him to join the Town of Summerville as a reserve police officer in 2002. By 2003, he transitioned into a full-time role, beginning a long and successful career in law enforcement.
Throughout his time in uniform, Montez worked hard to advocate for the community and rose through the ranks to become a Lieutenant. As the commander of the School Resource Officer unit, he served as a vital link between the police department, teachers, parents, and students. This role allowed him to gain a unique perspective on local needs while protecting and supporting the next generation. To ensure he had the best tools for leadership, he earned a Master of Public Administration and a certificate in City Management from Villanova University. His academic success also earned him a spot in Pi Alpha Alpha, the national honor society for public administrators.
In addition to his formal education, Montez completed the prestigious FBI-LEEDA Leadership Trilogy series to further refine his management skills. He is also an active member of several community and fraternal organizations, including the Fraternal Order of Police, the Summerville Rotary Club, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America. He also maintains strong bonds with his community as a Prince Hall Mason and Shriner. Now retired from the police department, Montez is running for the South Carolina House of Representatives, District 102. Montez Aiken will combine his years of service, his ability to truly listen, and his drive for teamwork to be the bold leader our state needs to fight for our future and be a powerful voice for every citizen at the state capitol.
